Our U14 Boys played neighbours Killeavy in what was a trilling encounter of football in their Division 1 Shield Final which was hosted by the Thomas Davis GFC earlier today.
Todays game was played in ideal conditions with Dromintee going in to an early lead. However the Killeavy lads had their own plans and by half time teams were all square.
The 2nd half was true championship football with both teams pressing and pushing opposition in to making mistakes while exchanging scores just to leave a kit of the ball between the teams going in to the final quarter.
It was the last quarter that saw the Dromintee lads play their best football with team breaking lines to get key scores while team worked hard defensively when opposition were in possession of the ball.
While Killeavy got the last score of the game from the penalty spot the Dromintee lads had done enough to run out winners on a score line of 2-13 to 4-02.
We would like to acknowledge the sportsmanship shown by the Killeavy Management in agreeing to have our game at the earlier time to accommodate those attending our Senior mens game in Cross.
Thanks to the Thomas Davis Club for hosting game and credit to their Committee for outstanding facilities.
We would finally like to thank the parents for their support throughout the year and while we may not always get it right the lads did us all very proud today to secure their very first piece of silverware as a collective group.
