The Under 15 girls side got their league campaign off to a winning start with victory over Crossmaglen on home soil.
In tricky conditions with driving rain the girls found the going tough in the first half and took a while to settle.
Cross threatened repeatedly and were unlucky as they hit both post and cross bar during a period of territorial dominance.
Luckily for the home side their shooting was a little more clinical and they led 3:06 to 0:06 at the break with the goals coming from Pippa Mooney (2) and Lily McBennett.
The second half saw an improved performance from the home side with better ball retention and a more attacking threat.
Goalkeeper Caitlin McCann pulled off an excellent second half save while Caitlin Carnegie and Grainne McKeever largely nullified the Cross attacking duo of Jessica McCreesh and Lily O’Hara and that left Cross blunted in scoring terms.
Maggie Boden and Emma Toale exerted a greater influence at midfield with both registering scores while the full forward line of Grace Conlon, Grainne Laverty and Pippa Mooney all raised white flags.
Home nerves were eased when Caoimhe O’Rourke found the net and Dromintee eased to victory.
On a night when the team were missing a few of the starting 15 some of the younger squad members Hannah McCrink, Aurika Jankute, and the O’Neill duo Ava and Emer all stepped up with good performances.
Scorers - Pippa Mooney 2:01, Lily McBennett 1:04, Grace Conlon 0:04, Maggie Boden 0:03, Emma Toale 0:02, Grainne Laverty 0:01
