Bernie O’Rourke Primary School Blitz

Dromintee GAC were delighted to host the annual Bernie O’Rourke Primary School Blitz for Dromintee Primary School on Friday past, with eleven schools fielding more than twenty girls and boys teams.

Although the sun shone through, rain showers kept everyone on their toes and tested the full range of skills. The large crowd of family and supporters were treated to a festival of football with a brilliant display of football, teamwork and sportsmanship across the day.

The girls’ games were full of high speed football and excellent score taking. By the end of the full round of matches, Dromintee PS girls had earned the plaudits at Cup level with an excellent St Michael’s Killean team catching the eye in the shield games.

The Boys games were equally as skilful, with virtually every game end to end and packed with great contests. Dromintee PS again stood out across the cup level games and parish neighbours Jonesborough PS impressed against allcomers in the shield games.

These games are played in memory of former Dromintee Primary School caretaker, and strong advocate of Cumann na mBunscol games, Bernie O’Rourke.

The O’Rourke family would like to thank Dromintee Primary School for their work in planning this event. Thanks also to Mulkerns Eurospar and Hughes Foodhall Camlough for supporting the day with water and fruit respectively.

That thanks is extended to the teachers and children of all of the schools who participated:
