Bernie O’Rourke Primary School Blitz
Last Friday, Dromintee GAC were delighted to host the annual Bernie O’Rourke Primary School Blitz for Dromintee Primary School on Friday past, with ten schools fielding girls and boys teams. These games are played in memory of former Dromintee Primary School caretaker, and strong advocate of Cumann na mBunscol games, Bernie O’Rourke.
The weather was testing at times but kept everyone on their toes and tested the full range of skills. The large crowd of family and supporters were treated to a festival of football with a brilliant display of football, teamwork and sportsmanship across the day.
The girls’ games ended with Glassdrummand girls earning the plaudits at Cup level with an excellent St Michael’s Killean team winning in the shield games.
In the Boys games Mullaghbawn won the Cup and Jonesborough PS winning in the shield games.
The O’Rourke family would like to thank Dromintee Primary School for their work in planning this event. Thanks also to Mulkerns Eurospar for supporting the day.
That thanks is extended to the teachers and children of all of the schools who participated:
Clonalig PS
Dromintee PS
Jonesborough PS
St Brigid’s Glassdrumman
St Malachy’s Camlough
St Mary’s Mullaghbawn
