Newry Pool League - 2025/26 Vadio Cup Winners Dromintee GAC
In the 15 years since its inception (originally partaking in the South Armagh Pool League) Dromintee GAC Pool Team finally got their hands on major silverware.
The week began with a 7-3 defeat to a very strong CWC A team in the International Rules Cup Final last Tuesday evening in the Cavern Bar. The CWC A Team went on to add the Premier League and the Premier Division Cup in a superb season.
All roads led to to 2025/26 Newry Pool League Finals Night at the Bank Bar, Newry. This time the opponents were 2024/25 Premier League and Premier Knockout Cup Champions, Hustlers.
A nervy affair for both sides was tied at 4-4 in a best of 9 pairs match. The final frame was left to Messrs Shevlin and Purcell to bring the cup home. A smartly laid snooker by Mark Shevlin created the chance and Francis Purcell became the hero by potting the winning black securing a 1st major trophy for Dromintee Pool.
