U12.5s attend Tyrone tournament.
Our U12.5 boys team travelled to Tyrone on Saturday to take part in a tournament which was co hosted by the Derrylaughan and Derrytresk clubs.
This always proves to be a highly competitive tournament and this year was no different with 32 teams taking part from across Ulster with Tyrone, Derry, Antrim and Armagh all well represented.
Dromintee were handed a tough group but managed to top it with victories over Cookstown, Fintona and Eglish which progressed them to another cup competition and a last 16 clash with the Loup (Derry).
An excellent performance accounted for the Loup and set up a tough quarter final against last year's tournament winners Errigal Ciaran. Dromintee saved their best performance of the day for this game and playing fast direct football deservedly progressed to the semi finals.
Waiting for them in the semis were pre tournament favorites Galbally and despite trying their very best and working extremely hard, failed to convert their chances and narrowly lost out to a very good side. Galbally would go on to win the tournament outright.
So a fantastic effort from all the boys and, despite missing several key players due to holidays, the lads that came into the team stepped up to the mark and the standard of the football produced really was top drawer. The future remains very bright for this group.
Our thanks to all the parents who made the journey to Tyrone to support the lads and to the Derrylaughan and Derrytresk clubs for hosting a terrific day's football.
