There is no doubting that the 2020/21 season was one of the most peculiar experienced in the GAA, but it also has proven to be a memorable one for Dromintee as the club deservedly collected only it's second ever Division One League title.

The first came in 2004 when Damien Kilgallon - whose son Gareth found the net on Sunday - had the honour of lifting the trophy, despite a final day home defeat.

No title had arrived since, although many of the current panel were involved in 2017 when the Senior B title was annexed, the side just holding off the challenge of a strong Ballymacnab outfit - who were the opposition on Sunday past when John Kennedy and his assistant Steven Kearney knew that a win would secure the silverware.

Just like the 2017 title was viewed as a stepping stone, it is hoped that this title will help propel the side to further honours in the near future.

The team certainly earned the praise that came their way this weekend after a campaign that lasted 13 months.

It started back in July 2020 in the torrential rain when a late goal earned a three-point win down in Ballymacmab, and while fans were not permitted that evening, a huge crowd came out on Sunday to watch the second meeting of the sides and the all-important one with Dromintee winning on a score line of 2-14 to 0-03 to secure league honours.

We would like to congratulate all of our players and management team and to all of you who turned out on Sunday to cheer our men on.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our main sponsors, MM Acquisitions Ltd who provide invaluable support to our club - enabling all of our teams to flourish and our club to grow. Thank you!
