Our Senior men's team travelled to Maghery on Friday evening with home team having played an extra game in their league campaign todate. In the first 15 minutes both teams exchanged scores to leave Dromintee ahead after 15 minutes by the narrowest of margins, with the Dromintee scores coming from the boot of Jack McArdle (2 pt), Ryan Hughes and Cathal McKenna one a piece.

Dromintee defended aggressively in the opening exchanges and it was one such combined effort from Adam Markey and Barry Toner in 17th minute which forced an over carry. The turn over was moved quickly through Gareth Kilgallon and Jack McArdle and eventually found Cathal McKenna on the edge of the square to push Dromintee 2pt ahead. Maghery respond in the 19th minute to take it back to a 1pt game.

Maghery won the subsequent kick out and again some good defensive play from the Dromintee half back line caused Maghery to over carry the ball, again ball was moved at pace into the full forward line where Ryan Hughes won the ball and turned his marker to finish the ball to the top corner of the net. Maghery responded with 2pt of their own to leave the sides 1-05 to Magherys 0-06 at half time.

At the start of the 2nd half Garath McCrink turned a ball over in the Dromintee half back line, moving up the field before Ronan Quinn was fouled with Oran Loughran converting in the 38 minute. Conor Martin was introduced for Cathal McKenna in the 41st minutes.

The following 15 minutes saw Dromintee give away 4 frees in kickable positions with Maghery converted 3 from 4. In the same period Dromintee registered only a single point from the boot of Ryan Gaskin leaving Dromintee ahead by a single point going into the last 5 minutes of normal time.

Dromintee dug deep and following some excellent defensive work in winning the ball in their own full back line the team moved the ball at pace through 4-5 players before Connor Martin converted what was a very well worked team score. Dromintee had now opened up a two point lead and looked to be on the home straight when a high ball into the Dromintee square found it's way to the back of the Dromintee net followed by a point in injury time leaving the home side 2pt ahead. Dromintee won the subsequent kick out and worked the ball into the full forward line where Ryan Hughes was fouled with Oran Loughran converting. With time running out and following a foul on Jack McArdle out along the side line, Dromintee held their composure to get the ball worked into the edge of the 40 where Connor Martin secured the ball and slotted it across the bar for what was the final kick of the game and which left both teams sharing the points.
