Dromintee 6:7 to Mullaghbawn 4:6

Dromintee minor girls qualified for the Armagh County Division 2 final when they eventually saw off the stern challenge of a fast running and strong, athletic Mullaghbawn 15 who refused to concede the semi final battle and it was only in extra time that the Dromintee girls could pull away. Dromintee found themselves a goal down at start of the game when the visitors took advantage of slack marking to fire their first goal. Dromintee on other hand took their time to get onto the scoreboard with some wayward shooting and missed a host of chances before drawing level with three points before half time.Playing against the wind Dromintee took the game to the visitors and raced into a five point lead before being pecked back by Mullaghbawn in a nervy last ten minutes. Extra time had to be played when Mullaghbawn equalised late on but Dromintee had several chances to win the game but didn’t convert these chances. In extra time against the wind Mullaghbawn raced into a 4 point lead. Suddenly as the game seemed to be slipping away from them  Dromintee’s got their running game going and began to take over and in a five minute salvo they knocked in two great goals to ease matters and knocked over a number of points in a dramatic last five minutes.During extra time the home team introduced several substitutes to help the team get over the line and proved that championships are never won with just 15 players. The team now meet Silverbridge who overcame Ballyhegan in the other semi final match. The final is fixed for next Sunday at a venue and time still to be arranged.
