Our Under 15 girls booked their place in a second successive Feile final this morning defeating Pearse Og en route.

The game was preceded by a minutes silence impeccably observed for Pearse Og stalwart Kate Dougan who sadly passed away yesterday having attended and promoted ladies football in Armagh for many years.

The foundation for the win was laid with the aid of a first half breeze and a strong defensive performance which allowed the front eight the scope to register scores.

First half goals from Grace Conlon and Lily McBennett via a penalty were the key scores but the pressure exerted by the girls forced multiple turnovers and led to a series of points via Caoimhe O’ Rourke, Emma Toale, Lily McBennett and Rosie Fox.

The second half performance lacked the consistency, flow and accuracy of the first but the defence marshalled by Sarah Murphy Ava O’Neill, Sinead O’Neill and Grainne McKeever stood strong and repelled strong run from the Ogs twin threats of Emma Harte & Aoife Hagan.

The game was put to bed through green flags from Rosie Fox and Grace Conlon and a series of free kicks from Lily McBennett.

The girls now advance to the Feile final against Killeavy hoping to go one better than last years defeat to Clann Eireann.

The girls were particularly grateful to have midfield dynamo Maggie Boden with them today as Maggie was originally due to represent Armagh U16 camogie team in a match against arch rivals Down. Her partnership with Caitlin Carnegie continues to develop with both girls working so hard for the greater good.

Photos from today’s game courtesy of Sinead Snaps will be posted later.

Details on the final date and venue will be circulated as soon as they become known.
