Wishing Ádh mor oraibh to Dromintee Set-Dancers and Kieran Larkin (Reciation) as they prepare for the Ulster Final of Scór next weekend and sharing a humorous ‘Scór’ memory from Niall from 2012:

After a hiatus of some years Dromintee GFC rejoined Scór by competing in the 1994/95 Scór na nÓg competing in the Ceili Dancing, Recitation and Quiz sections.

The mixed-team ceili dancers went on to win the Co. Armagh Final, the Ulster semi-final and the Ulster Final and progressed to the All-Ireland Final in Athlone where unfortunately they were beaten by the team that won the year before. At the same time the Dromintee all-girls team competed in the Camogie Scór (CCD) and they also won the County Final, Ulster semi-final, and Ulster Final but unfortunately they were also beaten in the All-Ireland final in Drumcondra in Dublin. Around this time Scór became very popular in the Club and some years we had members competing in all eight catagories. Many County medals were won during this time and Dromintee got ‘Most Improved Club’ and ‘Club of the Year’ awards on a number of occasions.

Ceili -dancing was the most successful Section for us and as all the kids were taught by the late Mrs. Eileen Keenan(RIP) in Killeavy Youth Club she sometimes put some of our members into teams representing Killeavy. The next great success we had was in the Instrumental Section in Scór Sinsear in 2009 and the musicians won County Final, Ulster Semi-Final and Ulster Final and competed in All-Ireland Final in Killarney where unfortunately they were beaten but I think this helped to create the wonderful ‘Fainne Group’ we have today.

The next year 2010 our mixed-team dancers once again won County Final, Ulster Semi-Final and Ulster Final and were beaten in the All-Ireland Finals in Glen Eagles in Killarney.

There has been wonderful support down through the years from the Club and I recall before we headed off from Pastoral Centre in Jonesboro’ for All-Ireland Scór na nÓg Final the late Fr. Vallely (rip) coming into the bus to say a prayer before we left. This year we have progressed to Ulster Semi - Finals in Recitation and Set Dancing and we wish Ádh mór oraibh to all competing in these competitions.
