The Boys Minor Footballers of Dromintee will make history on Sunday afternoon by becoming the first team from the club to compete in the fonaCab Ulster Minor competition.
The Ulster Minor Club Championship at St Paul’s is a competition that has been graced by the provinces biggest and most successful clubs and showcased some the finest talents of the next generation. Dromintee will begin with a quarter final clash against the Tyrone champions, a well regarded Ardboe side.
Ardboe began the their campaign impressively at the weekend, putting five goals past first time Antrim champions Portglenone. Their team includes several players featuring strongly for MacRory Cup front runners St Pat’s Dungannon and will provide a stern interrogation.
This Dromintee team steps into the Ulster arena with no small amount of pedigree too. As well as every trophy available to them through juvenile football, they were also successful at National Feile level and were Paul McGirr Ulster u16 champions two years ago.
This may be the most eagerly anticipated quarter-final of what has already been a very high quality competition. The Dromintee lads are looking forward to represented both the club and Armagh to the best of their ability. Captain Conor Laverty commented “We have been privileged to have the support of the whole parish every time we have played this year and we look forward to seeing the club colours in Belfast on Sunday”
