Dromintee Minor girls 3:7 Monaghan Harps 4:10

Dromintee Minor girls which are largely made up from the current U16 team along with a few senior ladies who play with the Dromahill team had their first outing of the season when they took on a Monaghan harps outfit who play in the Monaghan division 3 league. It was an excellent challenge match with plenty of endeavour shown throughout and it will provide plenty to work for both teams especially fitness deficiencies in the Dromintee girls. Nevertheless this was the first outing for some of these girls and the match will have helped the girls to identify their individual fitness levels and allow management to have a look at the panel at their disposal.

Weather conditions were dry but a strong wind meant playing conditions were difficult. Dromintee led at half time 1:2 to 0:2 despite missing a penalty and extended their lead early in second half with a Grainne O’Rourke goal to lead 2:4 to 0:3. It was proving difficult to defend this lead & Harps with a flurry of scores soon brought the game level. Stout defending by the home side ably led by Blinne O’Neill, Cliodhna McCoy & second half substitute Ava Pache meant the home side kept in the game. A second half goal by Caoimhe Hanrahan along with two points from Anna Lindsay kept the game tight but late goals by the visitors meant that they went home victorious.

Lots to work on by the Dromintee girls and they will be out again when they take on the Omeath/ Dowdallshill amalgamation in Dromintee under lights next week. Training continues Thursday 27th August at 7:45-9pm .
