Having secured the clubs first ever Armagh Feile title the Under 15 squad are currently balancing their preparations for a tilt at the national Fèile with their league commitments.
The boys have recorded two wins from their opening two league games against Cullyhanna and St Peters and face Silverbridge this coming week.
Final details around the national Feile competition have yet to be finalised but it is known that the Divisional finals will take place in venues across Dublin and Meath on July 2nd.
Unlike pre-Covid times it will not be staged across a full weekend but rather will be concluded in one day.
In an effort to make the experience as memorable as possible for the squad the team management and boys have decided to engage in some fundraising activity to supplement some costs that will be incurred. The money raised will be used for commemorative clothing, bus transfers for the team and meals around their journey.
The fund raising will be split into two components. Firstly, each business, family or individual can purchase signs wishing the boys well bearing the name of that business family or individual. A sample sign is included here and all those wishing to lend their support can forward the wording required to Declan McBennett via text or ClubZap. All signs will be sponsored to the value of £30. All signs will be displayed along the approach roads to the club.
Secondly the boys will undertake a Spinathon at the club on Sunday May 15th.
Each of the club teams from juvenile to senior and across boys and girls will be allocated a 30 minute slot to jump on board with the boys and cycle. The spots will be allocated at £10 each and we are hoping that the parents will be involved in the actual cycling when it comes to those in the Under 7 & 9 age groups. Individual team coaches will be in touch with the details around allocated team slots but they will run in conjunction with normal team training activity that weekend.
The Feile team will do their bit from 1:15 to 2pm on the day just ahead of the Senior Mens game with Granemore which has a 2pm throw-in and all activity will conclude at 5pm following the senior league game.
We are hoping that given how well the boys have and will continue to represent us all that everybody will lend their support to this group as they represent club, community and county on the national stage.
In summary…how you can support:
1. Sign of support £30 -register with Declan McBennett by May 15th at the latest. You can purchase your sign online here>>>
2. Foot down for Feile cycle - Club Spinathon May 15th. £10 per bike per 15 minute slot. Team coaches will forward details
The club is always conscious of the demands on households as the cost of living increases. There is never any pressure on anyone to contribute. Equally we feel the endeavours of the boys to date and get to come should be marked in the most memorable way for them and their families.
